Girl Scout Troop 50178 recently completed a community service project on the Aspetuck Land Trust’s Leonard Schine Preserve in Westport.

The Girl Scouts helped to restore a native meadow and stenciled acorns on trees for a new interpretive nature trail the land trust plans to open for children this spring.

Aspetuck Land Trust provides passive recreation and educational opportunities for people to learn about and enjoy nature in the towns of Westport, Weston, Easton and Fairfield, according to the announcement from the group.

The land trust maintains 45 nature preserves with trails and other conservation-only properties on more than 1,700 acres of land. The group has nearly 1,000 members who support the organization through annual donations.
