The Westport Republican Town Committee will honor two high-ranking GOP town officials at its annual Spring Gala on Sunday, April 29, at the Westport Inn.

Selectman Charlie Haberstroh and Board of Finance Chairman Avi Kaner will be cited for what the committee said was going "above and beyond the ordinary" to serve the community.

The event is planned from 5 to 9 p.m. and will feature a roster of regional and statewide Republican figures, including both candidates for the U.S. Senate nomination this year, the committee said in a news release.

Tickets are $125 and include cocktails, dinner and dancing.

"Charlie Haberstroh and Avi Kaner are dedicated public officials who donate their time and talents in service to Westport," Desiree Soli, the gala chairwoman, said in the release. "They epitomize leadership, self-sacrifice and devotion to our town, and we are proud to have them as leaders in the Republican Party."

Attendees will have an opportunity to meet Senate candidates Linda McMahon and Christopher Shays, plus GOP candidates for Congress in Connecticut's 4th District. Also expected to attend are state Sen. Toni Boucher, R-26, and state Rep. Gail Lavielle, R-143, the committee said.

Tickets may be purchased by calling Desiree Soli at 203-400-2773 or emailing her at dessoli16@aol.com.
