Westport Country Playhouse will present "Angelina Ballerina, The Musical" as part of its Family Festivities Series at 1 and 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at the playhouse, 25 Powers Court.

In the musical, Angelina and her friends, Alice, Gracie, AZ, Viki and their teacher Ms. Mimi anxiously await showing their dance skills to a famous visitor coming to their dance school, Camembert Academy.

Angelina, hoping for stardom, works hard to reach her goals, and along the way, learns from her mistakes, according to a release.

The dancers will perform various types of dance, including hip-hop, modern dance, the Irish jig and of ballet.

Based on books by Katharine Holabird and Helen Craig and the PBS Kids animated series, "Angelina Ballerina, The Musical," (c) 2012 Hit Entertainment Limited, is produced by the Vital Theatre Company and recommended for ages 6 to 10.

There will be a pre-show activity presented by Ballet Etudes Co. one hour before each performance, the release states.

In conjunction with the series, the playhouse is hosting a book collection for Read to Grow, Inc., a statewide nonprofit organization that provides free children's books to families with limited access and to community resources that serve them.

Bins will be in the playhouse's lobby for donations of gently used and new children's books, to be given to families and programs in greater Fairfield County.

Everyone in the audience requires a ticket, costing $18.

For information or tickets, call the box office at 203-227-4177, go to the playhouse or visit www.westportplayhouse.org.
