The Westport Center for Senior Activities will hold four events in the coming days at its facility, 21 Imperial Ave.

On Saturday, Oct. 20, the center will hold a Saturday Social that will include lunch and music from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. The meal will feature pan-seared pork chop with sweet cherry peppers in a balsamic reduction sauce over potatoes O'Brien, a salad, dessert and beverage. After lunch, musician John Paolillo will play oldies, classic rock, Motown, country, jazz and other music genres.

The cost is $6 per person.

On Monday, Oct. 22, Choices certified counselors will meet with individuals from 1 to 4 p.m. to help them review current prescription drug coverage and see if it best meets needs for 2013. Attendees should bring their Medicare cards, current Part D plan cards and a list of all prescription medications with proper spelling, quantity and dosage information to help counselors do proper screenings. The screenings are free, but appointments are required.

Also on Monday, Oct. 22, Sgt. Ryan Paulsson will be at the center with K9 service dog Koda from 1 yo 2 p.m. to discuss what the Westport Police Department K9 unit is. He will also give a demonstration on obedience and drug detection with Koda.

On Thursday, Oct. 25, Dr. Nicholas Polifroni of Coastal Orthopedics will discuss latest trends in total joint arthroplasty from 1 to 2 p.m. The talk will include conservative treatment of arthritis and proven successful techniques and dispel some myths about other types of treatment.

Dr. Polifroni is chief of the orthopedic section at Norwalk Hospital. He specializes in hip and knee replacements, but his expertise covers all aspects of orthopedic medicine and surgery including arthroscopic joint repair.

To register for any of these programs, call 203-341-5099 or visit the center in person.
