Weston residents are invited to participate in focus group meetings on Monday, Jan. 10, at Weston Middle School cafeteria to determine the criteria for selecting the school district's next superintendent.

Following the focus group meetings and candidate interviews, the Weston Board of Education is expected to select a new superintendent by spring. The new superintendent would probably take over officially in July.

Residents unable to attend the focus group meetings can alternatively participate by filling out an anonymous online survey between Jan. 10 and 17. The survey will be available on the school district's website, www.westonk12-ct.org.

The new superintendent will succeed interim Superintendent John Reed, who replaces Jerry Belair, the outgoing schools' chief. Belair announced in November that he was resigning to take the superintendent's job in Waterford.

A schedule of the Jan. 10 meeting times follows:

11:15 a.m.: Weston public school central office administrators. **

12:15 p.m.: All Weston public school building administrators. **

1:30 p.m.: All Weston public school parents and the public. ***

3:45 p.m.: All Weston public schools elementary school teachers and staff.

In the event of snow, the focus groups will be held Jan. 13 at the same times and locations.

*** Non-certified central office and district-wide staff may attend either the 2:45 or 3:45 focus group sessions.
