The Discovery to Cure, a program run by Yale School of Medicine, will hold its fifth annual walk to raise funds and awareness for ovarian cancer research on Sunday, Sept. 16, at Sherwood Island State Park.

On-site registration will start at 8:30 a.m., and the opening ceremony and walk will begin at 9:30 a.m.

The event will offer participants a choice of walking 1.5 miles or a three-mile loop, each of which is "stroller friendly," according to a news release.

All of its proceeds will go to developing new methods of early detection and pioneering treatment options and research initiatives for ovarian and other gynecological cancers.

Registration is $30 for each participant and includes a light breakfast, lunch and a Discovery to Cure Walk 2012 t-shirt. Participants may also register before the day of the event and donate to the cause at www.discoverytocure.yale.edu.

Pre-registrants will receive complimentary onsite parking.
