A waitress at a local restaurant has been charged with stealing credit-card information from customers and using it to create counterfeit accounts that she used to run up personal expenditures.
Jennifer Birdeau, 38, of Long Island City, N.Y., was charged on a warrant Wednesday with third-degree identity theft.
The charges stem from a 2007 investigation in which police said they determined that Birdeau was capturing credit card information of customers at a restaurant where she worked as a waitress. Birdeau then used that information to create counterfeit cards and used them for her personal purposes.
Police did not identity the restaurant where Birdeau had worked.
Bond was set at $5,000 and she was scheduled to appear July 8 in Norwalk Superior Court.
