Memorial Day parade organizers are looking for World War II veterans who'd like to participate and for the owners of convertibles willing to volunteer their vehicles to chauffeur the oldest vets along the route.

Organizers said they believe about 40 World War II veterans live in Westport, and 10 already have said they will participate.

Last year, about 15 participated, according to Ted Diamond, who is organizing the World War II vets and transportation for them.

The youngest of the group now are in their late 80s.

Veterans who wish to participate and convertible owners willing to volunteer their cars should call Diamond at 203-227-7680 or email him at tdiamon2@optonline.net, he said.

The town's annual parade is scheduled Monday, May 26.
