Two Westport-based builders of luxury homes have captured prizes for their projects in an annual competition sponsored by a statewide contractors' group.

Bluewater Home Builders LLC and SIR Development each won Home Building Industry Awards during the Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Connecticut's awards dinner Nov. 12.

Bluewater, with offices on Jesup Road, won three HOBIs -- including a top prize for the state's spec home of the year. SIR Development, based on Post Road East, won four HOBIs.

A total of 117 HOBI awards were presented to contractors, designers, lenders and marketing firms from across Connecticut.

Bluewater won two prizes for the same spec house in Westport, plus a third award for a custom home. They included:

Best spec home overall and best spec home in the $3 to $4 million range, for a house at 38 Burnham Hill in Westport;

Best custom home in the 7,000- to 8,000-square-foot range, for a house on Sunnie Holme Drive home in Fairfield.

SIR Development won three prizes for residential work and one for a commercial building:

Best new commercial building, for a retail structure at 11 Post Road East that now houses Paper Source and clothier Stevan Alan.

Best Fairfield County spec home in the $4 million to $5 million range, for a house at 5 Old Hill Farms Road in Westport;

Best Fairfield County spec home in the $2 million to $3 million range, for a house at 6 Bumble Bee Lane in Westport;

Outstanding special-purpose room, for a library in the 5 Old Hill Farms Road.
