WESTPORT—Two Waterbury men confessed to stealing a car from a Westport driveway in February, according to police.
A 2015 Honda CR-V was reported stolen overnight on the morning of Feb. 24 from a home on Silver Brook Road. The car had been unlocked with the keys in the ignition. Police said a car stolen from Waterbury was found not far from where the Honda was taken.
Malachi Johnson and Marcus Singleton were arrested on Oct. 12 after confessing to the theft during interviews with Westport detectives. The men were suspects in the Waterbury Police’s investigation of the car stolen from their town and Westport Police collaborated with Waterbury for the investigation.
Singleton, 20, of Cherry Street in Waterbury was charged with two counts of first-degree larceny, motor vehicle theft. Johnson, 18, of Wildwood Avenue in Waterbury was charged with one count of the same felony charge.
Both men were served with warrants while in Norwalk Court for unrelated charges.
