The Westport Fire Department was dispatched early this afternoon to a motor vehicle accident with injuries on Interstate 95 southbound between the Saugatuck River Bridge and the exit 17 off-ramp. The driver of the late-model Toyota Scion sedan lost control of the vehicle, hitting the median divider Jersey barrier and causing significant damage to the barrier and minor damage to a small truck traveling in an adjacent lane.

Two of the four occupants of the Scion sedan sustained minor injuries. Fire crews assisted Westport EMS in patient assessment and treatment and subsequently Westport EMS transported two of the four vehicle occupants to Norwalk hospital with minor injuries. Westport Fire Department personnel remained on-scene to contain fluid spills from the damaged vehicle and to facilitate vehicle removal from the highway. Connecticut State Police Troop G is investigating the accident.
