Boy Scout Troop 39 will pick up Christmas trees for recycling after the holidays in January.

It marks the sixth year the Scouts will pick up discarded Christmas tree from town residents, with the trees recycled into mulch.

This year’s pickups will take place Saturday, Jan. 9. People who want to take advantage of the service should sign up online at: www.troopmasterweb.com/troop39westport.

Trees should be left no later than 6:30 a.m. Jan. 9 at the end of the driveway. Fee is $20 per tree, and the cash or checks can be taped to a home’s front door the morning of the pickups.

Reservations are limited, according to the troop, which encourages early signups.

Proceeds benefit Troop 39 activities.
