A poetry reading to honor the late Tess Meisel is scheduled today (Wednesday, Aug. 24) from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Westport Public Library.

The Coleytown Middle School student, killed in a traffic accident in Maine last week, loved poetry, according to library officials, making this event a fitting tribute.

Friends, family and members of the public are invited to attend the reading, which will be held in the library's McManus Room. An assortment of poetry books will be available for those wishing to select a poem to read. Those attending also may compose their own verse on a magnetic poetry board.

At the family's request, donations in Meisel's memory may be made to the Tess Meisel Memorial Fund at the Westport Public Library, 20 Jesup Road, Westport, CT, 06880. For more information contact Cindy Clark at 203-291-4824 or cclark@westportlibrary.org.
