The town of New Milford is receiving a $13,187 Emergency Management Performance grant for fiscal year 2009-10.

The grant money reimburses the town for 50 percent of the salary cost for Emergency Management Director Marla Scribner's time spent working on emergency services preparation.

It will also cover communications costs related to emergency services.

Ms. Scribner works in Mayor Patricia Murphy's office as executive secretary and 20 percent of her time there is spent in duties as the town's Emergency Management Director.

The grant comes from the state's Department of Emergency Management and the federal Homeland Security.

Town Council members approved acceptance of the grant at Monday's meeting.
