Wait a minute. Did you say your New Year's resolution was to get out and have more fun? No problem, we've got a list of suggestions in Westport this weekend:

Sample the "spirits" of '14 at a free beer and wine tasting at 4 p.m. Friday at Bottlerocket Wine & Spirit, 1790 Post Road East. There's no charge and you'll get to sample Josh California Cabernet Sauvignon, Domaine Duffour Cotes de Gascogne and Sebago "Frye's Leap" IPA.

It promises to be bone-chillingly cold this weekend, so work up some body heat at the Westport PAL ice rink at Longshore Park, 260 Compo Road South. There will be public skates on Saturday at noon and 6 p.m. Admission for adults without a handpass is $10, and $6.25 for those under 12. You can rent skates for $5 or have yours sharpened for $8 to $10. For more information visit www.wpalrink.com or call 203-226-7465.

If you're considering taking up yoga, you'll want to attend an intro workshop at 2 p.m. Sunday at Kaia Yoga, 1200 Post Road East. The workshop cost is $15 and will focus on the basics.

Maureen Hamill & Friends will hit the stage at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Westport Center for Senior Activities, 21 Imperial Ave. The show is free, and all ages are welcome. Doors open at 1 p.m., with complimentary refreshments at 1:30 p.m. Reservations are suggested; call 203-341-5099.

Kick off WestportREADS for 2014 Sunday when co-author Alex Prud'homme discusses his great aunt, Julia Child, and the book they wrote, "My Life in France" -- chosen as the book for the theme of this year's community reading project. The event runs from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Westport Library, 20 Jesup Road, and admission is free. For more information visit www.westportlibrary.org.
