Wake up, Westport. It's the weekend and there's plenty to do around town. Here are some recommendations:
Everything will be up to date when the Staples Players present "Thoroughly Modern Millie" at the main stage theater at Staples High School, 70 North Ave., all weekend long. The curtain rises at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday. Discounted senior citizen tickets are available for the Sunday matinee. It may by late autumn, but farm markets are still in season in Westport. The Westport Winter Farmers Market opens for its season Saturday, running weekly through March 15, at Gilbertie's, 7 Sylvan Lane. There will be fresh fare from farms, bakeries, butchers and specialty food vendors. It takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Check www.westportfarmersmarket.com for details.
The start of the holiday season is just around the corner, so get a jump on your shopping at the Westport Historical Society's crafts show Saturday and Sunday at historical society headquarters, 25 Avery Place.
