The trick or treaters have all retreated, but that doesn't mean you should retreat to the couch. Get up and get out and enjoy the weekend. Here are some suggestions:

Head over to the Westport Library, 20 Jesup Road, at 2 p.m. Saturday to kick off National Novel Writing Month with author Matt Debenham on "Reading for Writers." Admission is free. Call 203-291-4800 or visit www.westportlibrary.org.

The Ridgefield Chorale will perform the Sunrise Mass Concert at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Unitarian Church, 10 Lyons Plain Road. Tickets are $15 and $20. For information, visit www.ridgefieldchorale.org.

Share some laughs when improvisational comedian Wayne Brady performs in a benefit for Homes with Hope at 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the Westport Country Playhouse, 25 Powers Court. For ticket information, visit www.hwhct.org or call the playhouse at 203-227-4177.
