Pack in as much as you can this weekend before the vacation season gets packed away for the as the new school year -- and all that comes with it -- get under way in Westport. Here are some recommendations:

Here's something diverting to start the weekend: a free performance by the rock band, the Distractions, at 8 p.m. Friday on Jesup Green, 40 Jesup Road. All the Levitt Pavilion concerts have a rain location, so if the weather looks iffy check the website, www.levittpavilion.com, or call the concert hotline, 203-221-2153, after 4 p.m. on the day of the show.

There's more to the Westport Library than just books, and you can out everything it has to offer at Saturday's open house from 2 to 4 p.m. The library welcomes the community to highlight its many services and programs, including 3D printing, musical guests and refreshments. The library is located at 20 Jesup Road. For more information visit www.westportlibrary.org

Two chances on Saturday to catch the Westport Country Playhouse production of "Oblivion" -- at 3 or 8 p.m. Tickets are $50-$30. For information or tickets, call 203-227-4177 or visit www.westportplayhouse.org

Make Sunday a "Phun Day" when Phoebe's Phriends host a fundraiser at K.C. Salon & Co., 130 Post Road East, from noon to 4 p.m. to celebrate Phoebe Spear's return to school after a three-year battle with cancer and raise money for pediatric cancer research. Get a haircut or blow out for $25, with the proceeds going to cancer research. There will also be a raffle, refreshments and entertainment. Call 203-505-5168 for more information.

Swing into the last weeks of summer -- and the official end of the Levitt Pavilion's free summertime concerts -- with a performance by Fairfield Counts, with its repertoire of big-band sounds, at 7 p.m. Sunday on Jesup Green. And lend a hand to those in need by bringing canned goods to donate to the Westport Women's Club Food Closet. For information, check www.levittpavilion.com
