There's too much to do in Westport this weekend to let the hot weather keep you cooped up for long. Keep yourself hydrated and head out to enjoy at least some of what is on tap:
Resuscitate your weekend with a visit to Bobby Q's Barbeque and Grill, 42 Main St., where "DNR," those physicians who are also musicians, will be playing Friday night. Show starts at 9 p.m. and there is no cover charge. Call 203-454-7800 for more information.
It's not just a book sale, it's a "giant summer" book sale at the Westport Library, 20 Jesup Road. More than 80,000 books, art work, CDs, records and more are for sale starting Saturday through Tuesday. For times and book pricing, visit www.westportlibrary.org or call 203-291-4800.
It's art on a grand scale as you stroll through Parker Harding Plaza and Gorham Island along the Saugatuck River, where the Westport Fines Arts Festival will take place Saturday and Sunday. The event is sponsored by the Downtown Merchants Association. Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free. Find more information at www.westportDMA.com.
One kid wants to go to the beach and the other to the zoo? Keep everybody satisfied Saturday when the Beardsley Zoo Mobile visits Sherwood Island State Park from 6 to 7 p.m. Admission to Sherwood Island is $13 for residents and $22 for non-residents, but those rates drop to $6 and $7 after 4 p.m. There is no charge for admission to the zoo mobile. Check www.beardsleyzoo.org for more information.
Haven't taken a vacation yet? Take the "Mystery Tour" as this Beatles tribute band performs the Fab Four's greatest hits Sunday at the temporary Levitt Pavilion on Jesup Green. Admission is free and the concert starts at 7 p.m. In case of inclement weather, call 203-221-2153 or check www.levittpavilion.com after 4 p.m. to find out the show's status.
