Make the weekend "eggs-citing," and that doesn't mean sitting home on the couch. Here are a few Easter weekend ideas to get you up and moving in Westport:

Is your mailbox getting stuffed with wedding invitations? Make sure you don't embarrass the bride and groom when you hit the dance floor later this spring, and take advantage of the Ballroom Elegance Dance Studio's Friday practice dance party. The dance party starts at 8:15 p.m. at the studio, 677 Post Road East. Admission is $10 for guests. For more information, call 203-454-9400 or visit www.ballroomdancewestport.com

If it's Saturday morning, it's story time at Barnes & Noble, 1076 Post Road East. Story times begins at 11 a.m. Call 203-221-7955 or visit www.barnesandnoble.com for details.

Have a closer "Critter Encounter" at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Earthplace, 10 Woodside Lane. You can meet some of the nature center's animals, make a craft and take a trail walk through the preserve -- all in one place. Visit www.earthplace.org for more information.

Get a bite to eat and then sit back and enjoy or stand up and dance when Billy and the Showmen take the stage at 9 p.m. Saturday at the Blu Parrot, 60 Charles St. For more information. call 203-557-9148.

Rise early in the day Easter Sunday for a sunrise service at Compo Beach at 6:15 a.m. The service is celebrated jointly by Saugatuck Congregational Church, Westport United Methodist Church and Greens Farms Congregational Church.
