Think there's no way to fill the three-day weekend calendar coming up? Think again. Here are things to do in Westport to keep you busy:
Friday night, head to the Blu Parrot, 60 Charles St., for music by the Dempsey-Pickering Project. Music starts at 9 p.m., and there is no cover charge. For more information, call 203-557-9148.
Celebrate winter Saturday with a visit to Earthplace, 10 Woodside Lane, for Winterfest from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The celebration includes horse-drawn sleigh rides, a trail walk, REI sports equipment demos, winter crafts and a campfire with s'mores and hot cocoa. Admission is free, but there is a fee for food and special events. Visit www.earthplace.org for more information.
If hot is more your style, check out the Wax is Hot! exhibit at Amy Simon Fine Art, 1869 Post Road East. The exhibit, on display through Feb. 16, features selections in encaustic, or hot wax, painting. Saturday hours are 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Find more information at www.amysimonfineart.com or call 203-259-1500.
They'll be rounding up the usual suspects for a mystery book discussion of "61 Hours" at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Westport Library, 20 Jesup Road. Visit westportlibrary.org or call 203-291-4821 for more information.
Take time to reflect on the reason for Monday's "holiday" at the Interfaith Council program honoring the late civil-rights leader, Martin Luther King Jr., at 3 p.m. Sunday in the United Methodist Church, 49 Weston Road. The program will include monologues, readings by local clergy and scholars and musical selections in tribute to King and his legacy. A goodwill collection will be taken and there will be a food drive to support local food pantries. For more information, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
