Music Theatre of Connecticut will present A.R. Gurney's "Ancestral Voices" from Friday, Feb. 1, to Sunday, Feb, 17, at MTC MainStage, 246 Post Road East, Westport. The play will be shown Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 4 and 8 p.m., and Sundays at 3 p.m.
"Ancestral Voices" is a bittersweet story, perceived through the eyes of young Eddie, whose family is turned inside out when his grandmother unexpectedly divorces his grandfather in order to marry his grandfather's best friend. It is set in Buffalo, N.Y., in the 1940s, according to a news release.
The play is part of the theater's three-play season, which also includes "Next to Normal," a rock musical which ran from Oct. 19 to Nov. 4; and "The Cole Porter Project," a musical tribute to the American songwriter scheduled to run April 19 to May 5.
Tickets cost $25 to $45, $5 off for seniors and students, subject to availability. Reservations are suggested.
The theater is a nonprofit organization founded in 1987 by directors Kevin Connors and Jim Schilling.
