The Taste of Westport offers a delicious evening Thursday

The 10th annual Taste of Westport will be sponsored by CLASP Homes on Thursday at the Westport Inn. At the event, diners enjoy an evening tasting the favorite dishes of area restaurants from 6 to 9 p.m. accompanied by a selection of wines, beers and cocktails, and ending with desserts, cappuccino and gelato.

Among the culinary samplings will be fresh oysters and clams on the half shell from Hummock Island Raw Bar, and dishes from several new restaurants, including The Spread, Geronimo and Little Barn. Offerings from many long-time favorites will include Pan e Bene, T & C Steakhouse and Bobby Q's.

The event includes a silent auction which, among other items, is offering six VIP tickets to "The Daily Show," plus limousine transportation back and forth and dinner at a nearby restaurant. The Taste of Westport also will offer listening and dancing music by the Carruthers Brothers Trio.

The evening benefits CLASP, a 32-year-old charitable organization that provides homes and opportunities for people with autism and other developmental disabilities. The organization operates 21 residences in seven communities, including Westport, Norwalk, Fairfield, Wilton, Easton, Trumbull and Stratford. CLASP also collaborates with many area businesses for employment of its clients.

Tickets for the Taste of Westport are $75 in advance, and $80 at the door the night of the event at the Westport Inn, 1595 Post Road East.
