Temple Israel of Westport's Social Action Committee will hold a community forum on gun violence at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, at its synagogue, 14 Coleytown Road.
The meeting is intended to offer community members the opportunity to hear about the national, state and local responses to the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy and understand how they can lend their voices to the conversation.
Speakers will include U. S. Rep. Jim Himes (D-4), state representatives Kim Fawcett (D-133), Jonathan Steinberg (D-136) and Gerald Fox (D-146), state senators Beth Bye (D-5) and Toni Boucher (R-26), Westport First Selectman Gordon Joseloff (D) and Weston First Selectwoman Gayle Weinstein (D). Mike Lawlor, Under Secretary for Criminal Justice Policy and Planning, and Lisa Labella, vice president of Connecticut Against Gun Violence, will also be in attendance.
Speakers will be followed by time for a question-and-answer period.
