Teen organizes concert for brain-tumor research

A Weston teenager has organized a concert Feb. 2 at the Fairfield Theatre Company's Stage One to benefit the American Brain Tumor Association.

The Gray Matter Matters concert will feature a Fairfield University a capella group, a teen rock band from Weston and a unique act that fuses music, comedy and the manipulations of bubbles.

Weston High School junior Clare Murray said she organized the fundraiser after learning that her uncle had been diagnosed with Glioblastoma, an aggressive and malignant from of brain cancer.

Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the show begins at 8 at the FTC, 70 Sanford St. in downtown Fairfield.

Performers include:

Casey Carle's Bubblemania. Carle is the bubble consultant to Circque du Soleil, and has performed with Ringling Bros. Circus, on numerous TV shows in the U.S. and Japan, and at thousands of schools and libraries.

The Sounds. The group is Fairfield University's only student-run a capella group.

Chillingsworth. The pop/rock band is made up of five Weston High School juniors and has a unique sound.

Tickets are $20 for students, $30 for adults.

Founded in 1973, the American Brain Tumor Association provides support for brain-tumor patients and caregivers and funds research.
