Talk on humor's role in religion set at United Methodist

A Jesuit priest from Fairfield University speak about the joy and healing power of humor in religious life on Sunday morning, Jan. 20, at the United Methodist Church of Westport and Weston.

The Rev. Paul Holland's talk on humor is planned at 11 a.m. at the 49 Weston Road church. He also is scheduled to deliver the sermon at the church's 9:30 a.m. worship service, the church said in a news release.

Both are open to the public.

Holland is rector of the Jesuit Community at Fairfield University and at Fairfield College Preparatory School. He holds degrees from Harvard University, Boston College, the Jesuit School of Theology, the University of California the University of Notre Dame, according to the release.

His eclectic experience ranges from teaching in Zambia to being a contestant on the television quiz show "Jeopardy!" to caring for homeless schizophrenics in Australia and elderly priests in Massachusetts, serving as a political consultant at teaching at Fairfield University.
