The Westport Sunrise Rotary will host a talk by Steven Wolff, chairman of the Arts Committee of the Fairfield County Community Foundation, at its breakfast meeting on Friday, Oct. 5, at 7:30 a.m. at Bobby Q's Bodacious Bar & Grill, 42 Main St.
Wolff, founding principal of AMS Planning & Research Corp. and AMS Analytics, will present the results of a study of the arts' economic impact in the county on behalf of the Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County, a Fairfield organization supported by the foundation. The national research study was conducted by Americans for the Arts, a nonprofit organization focused on advancing the arts, according to a release.
The study shows that the 77 nonprofit arts and culture organizations surveyed generated $130 million in consumer spending in 2011 and provided almost 4,000 full-time jobs. They also generated an additional $10.5 million in local and state government revenue, and consumers spent an average of $25.84 per arts and cultural event they attended, excluding ticket costs.
Fairfield County is one of 182 regions across the nation that participated in the study.
Guests are welcome. There is a $12 fee, which includes a breakfast buffet.
