Updated 7:11 am, Monday, September 12, 2011
A jewelry historian will give a presentation on the Duchess of Windsor's jewels to the Antiques Group of the Westport Woman's Club on Wednesday, Sept. 21.
Barbara Neiman, a member of jewely historians' groups in Great Britain and the U.S., will give a slide presentation and discuss the duchess's jewels, the romance of the duke and duchess, his gifts and the auction of the collection at Sotheby's.
The program is scheduled at the club, 44 Imperial Ave., and is open to non-members for free. Refreshments will be served at 10 a.m., followed by a short business meeting and then Neiman's presentation.
Neiman has traveled and collected jewelry for more than 35 years, the club said. She is a member of the American Society of Jewelry Historians and the British Society of Jewelry Historians, the Woman's Club said in a news release. She has a certificate of appraisal from New York University and has taught about various periods of jewelry, from Georgian to modern times.
