Support was brewing in Westport Saturday evening for a regional agency dedicated to helping people in need ensure brighter prospects for themselves and their families.

"Brewfest" was hosted at Dragone Classic Motor Cars on Post Road West, where attendees could sample fine beer, get a close-up look at gleaming vintage automobiles and, most importantly, raise money for the programs of FSW Inc., whose mission is "Changing Lives, Building Brighter Futures."

The event featured a half-dozen craft beer brands, including Beaver Beer of Westport.

The beneficiary, FSW, manages a range of programs to empower people in the greater Bridgeport area. Each year, the nonprofit addresses the socio-economic needs of approximately 11,000 youth and families affected by complex issues of poverty.

FSW clients, after being assessed regarding personal social-service and economic needs, are helped with an individualized plan designed to restore personal capability, develop skills and build economic self-sufficiency.
