Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County will offer a free, eight-week bereavement support group this winter to help adults cope with the death of a parent.

The group will meet weekly on Wednesdays from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Jan. 15 to March 5 at the Visiting Nurse offices in Suite 114 at the Health and Wellness Center at I-Park, at 761 Main Ave. (Route 7), Norwalk.

"In this support group, we will address common reactions to the death of a parent, including depression, anger, fear, loneliness and guilt," the Rev. Marti Bishop, an interfaith minister and Visiting Nurse grief counselor, said in a news release. "While the death of a parent is an expected life cycle event, it is the loss of the most fundamental relationship in our lives and the effect can be profound."

Advance registration is required.
