Today will be mostly sunny with seasonable temperatures, but the real weather story is the weekend.

Another glorious one is on the way after a chilly night tonight, WTNH meteorologist Gil Simmons says.

"If you've been bringing your houseplants outside for a little bit of sun each day, don't forget them tonight,'' he said. "It will be a cold night, with a freeze likely in some areas.''

Showers predicted for this afternoon are expected to stay to the east, keeping the region dry, but pollen counts will continue to be high, Simmons said.

The National Weather Service forecast calls for only a 10 percent chance of precipitation through the weekend, with a daytime high Saturday of 65 in Danbury and 61 in Bridgeport and Stamford.

Erika Martin of WeatherXEdge.com says there is a slight chance of a "pop up shower'' on Sunday afternoon. "Overall it remains dry and nice for the next couple of days,'' she said. Clouds will build late Monday, with brief rain showers possible, but the best chance for some rain is on next Thursday, she said.
