The Subway shop on Post Road East was held up Friday by an armed man, who still was at large by evening despite a manhunt assisted by a K-9.

No one was hurt during the 10:10 a.m. incident at the shop at 903 Post Road East, police said.

The robbery suspect -- his face concealed by a ski mask -- displayed a silver metal handgun, forcing store employees to the rear of the shop. He then went behind the counter, grabbed the cash box from the register and fled in an easterly direction toward the intersection with Cedar Road, still carrying the cash box, police said.

The suspect was described by police as a black male with a muscular build, about 6 feet tall and wearing a dark-blue hoodie, gray or black pants and black gloves.

Despite a search of the area by local police, assisted by the Norwalk police K-9 unit, he remained at large as of Friday evening.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Police Department's Detective Bureau at 203-341-6080.
