Student wins journalism award

Benjamin Reiser, a senior at Staples High School, has been named the 2013 Connecticut Student Journalist of the Year by the Journalism Education Association.

Reiser, 18, is the managing editor of Inklings, the school's newspaper.

As the state's Student Journalist of the Year, Reiser will represent Connecticut in the association's National High School Journalist of the Year competition in San Francisco in April.

Founded in 1924, the association is a scholastic journalism and media education organization for teachers and advisers, with more than 2,500 members nationwide.
