Arielle Kirven, of Weston, an eighth-grade student at Greenwich's Convent of the Sacred Heart, recently won the school's competition for the National Geographic Bee.

She will advance to the statewide round of the national contest in April.

Pupils in grades five through eight at the school competed in grade-level preliminary rounds until the field was narrowed to eight competitors for the schoolwide contest.

This is the fifth consecutive year that the school's students have participated in the geography competition.
