The attention to detail and magnificent construction of the colonial at 1 Fraser Lane in Westport is evident even before entering the 7,200-square-foot stunner.
The natural cedar shingle and stone exterior, accented by barn red trim, offers a hint of the character and craftsmanship inside. The attractive details start right from the formal front entrance with its hand-crafted cottage door made of reclaimed wood, antique glass and old-world hardware.
Constructed in 2003 by renowned builder Michael Greenberg on a 3.19-acre property, the house features a combination of reclaimed, rare and antique woods, local stone, and the use of period techniques. Among its many amenities are a tennis court, in-ground heated swimming pool, and charming cupola-topped cabana.
The house sits on an idyllic pastoral property in a private setting in the northern end of town. It is situated on a corner lot with the front entrance, including the circular driveway, accessed from North Avenue. The driveway also leads to a heated three-car, attached, under-house garage.
A second driveway entrance is on Fraser Lane, not to be confused with Fraser Road, which is also off North Avenue and sits directly across the intersection from Fraser Lane. The second driveway provides access to a detached, one-car garage, the tennis court, pool, cabana and back entrance.

There are four stone fireplaces in the house. The most dramatic of them are the two in the center of the main living quarters on the first floor. They are back-to-back sharing a floor-to-ceiling chimney. One faces into the living room and the other is in the formal dining room. The others are in the family room and the library directly across from the first-floor master bedroom suite.
The master bedroom has a cathedral ceiling with exposed beams and access to the backyard, patio and pool. In the master bath there are marble-topped counters on the his and hers vanities that flank the jetted tub. The vanities contain farm-style porcelain sinks.
Between the living room, master bedroom and library, there is a wet bar with a marble, L-shaped counter, copper sink, and shelving for serving glasses.
At the opposite end of the house, the gourmet kitchen has natural wood-colored antique French oak cabinets, an L-shaped counter topped in marble, and double stainless-steel sinks. There are two casual dining areas immediately off the kitchen: the breakfast room and a breakfast bar accommodating four stools at the pass-through between the kitchen and family room. Appliances include a LaCornue five-burner range top, Wolf double, wall-mounted ovens and warming drawer and Sub Zero refrigerator.
On the second floor there are four bedrooms, two at one end of the house and two on the other. Two of them share a Jack and Jill bath. The other two share a bath that is accessed from a hallway.
There are two guest suites, one above the attached garage and the other in the full finished basement. The upper-level guest suite has two French doors to a balcony that looks out onto the backyard.
The basement level also has a gym, game room, playroom, fax room and two large storage areas, one of which houses the mechanicals.
A Crestron touch-pad automated system controls the lighting, sound system, room-to-room intercom, security and other elements of the home.
There will be an open house from 10 a.m. 2 p.m. on April 14.
