State police find third driver in fatal crash

DANBURY ___ State police on Sunday said they've found the operator of a third vehicle involved in a fatal accident on Interstate 84 Friday evening.

As a result of information developed by state troopers and Danbury police, investigators said they have located the red Ford pickup truck and its driver.

They are withholding the driver's identity pending further investigation by the Western District Major Crime Squad.

A 52-year-old Broad Brook woman, Janine Wheeler, was killed when the sports utility vehicle she was riding in was hit by another car near Exit 2 westbound about 7 p.m..

State police arrested the driver of the car that hit the Wheeler vehicle, John Morales, 23, of the Bronx, but had been seeking the red pickup, which witnesses told police was also weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed along with Morales' car.

Morales was charged with first-degree manslaughter, second-degree assault, reckless driving, reckless endangerment, as well as other charges.
