The Staples boys soccer team claimed three more valuable points towards and FCIAC playoff spot with a 3-1, come-from-behind win over St. Joseph on Friday afternoon at Loeffler Field. Though the score indicated it was a comfortable win for the Wreckers, it was far from it.

The match was tied at 1-1 with five minutes left, and an own goal gave the Wreckers the lead. Less than a minute later, Graham Gudis wrapped up the win with a goal. Sawyer Meehan scored for St. Joseph in the opening minutes of the game.

Staples is now 3-1-1 and will face Westhill on the road on Monday.

The Wreckers volleyball team rebounded from a 3-1 loss to Trumbull to sweep Stamford 3-0 (25-16, 25-12, 25-18 on Friday night. Nikki Lynch had seven kills, while Reece Schachne and Annemieke Mathissen each had three blocks.

The win lifts the team to 4-2 after six matches.
