n Bethel High held off several Ridgefield comebacks to record a 66-52 win, with sophomore Steve Ruiz scoring 18 points. Earlier in the week, Ruiz's outside shooting paced the offense with 24 points and an effective trap that produced numerous turnovers keyed the defense as Bethel High defeated Pomperaug, 89-51. n Stu Strong and Ted Porterfield scored 19 points apiece as the Joel Barlow boys basketball team beat O'Brien Tech, 71-61, in the semi-finals of the Bunnell Christmas Tournament...

Coach Bill Hibbard's Green Wave is now 2-0 in the WCC and 2-1 overall.
