Danbury High senior Sue Robertshaw has been named to the 1980-81 Fairfield County Conference Western Division all-star girls basketball team. Robertshaw was the Hatters' leading scorer and rebounder this past season, finishing with a 14.6 scoring average. She was under double figures only twice this season and had a season-high of 20 points on three separate occasions. . .
Taking too long to gear up its defense, Bethel High bowed out of the CIAC Region II boys basketball tournament, falling behind Notre Dame of Bridgeport by 18 in the first half before fighting back to within three and eventually dropping a 69-62 decision. In a surprising game in the CIAC Region 2 Class LL opening-round contest in Stamford, Brien McMahon High's Senators defeated Danbury High, 58-54, despite the fact that the Hatters had manhandled the McMahon team in a 26-point blowout during the regular season. Jeff Daniels contributed 14 points and snared 10 rebounds for the Hatters, despite his obvious discomfort from a badly-sprained ankle. Jon Randolph scored 21 for the Hatters.
