Sylvan Road South reopened to traffic about 6 p.m. Saturday, after being closed most of the day when a truck struck and snapped off a utility pole in the morning.

Closure of the street, between Post Road West and Riverside Avenue, was forced after a small box truck hit a utility pole about 8:30 a.m., pulling down wires as the pole broke off.

Live wires fell onto the truck, according to fire officials, but occupants were able to leave the vehicle without injury.

A transformer leaked some oil onto the roadway, according to the report.
