A shining celebration of Bald is Beautiful transformed the Westport Weston Family YMCA on Sunday into a sea of smooth scalps -- all shaved clean for the annual Team Brent fundraiser for the St. Baldrick's Foundation, which raises money for childhood cancer research.

The 11th annual Team Brent event was initially organized by Dana and Michael McCreesh of Fairfield, when they learned that their son Brent, then 2 years old, had stage 4 neuroblastoma, a cancer of the central nervous system. Over the next two years, Brent had a dozen surgeries, six rounds of chemotherapy and two stem cell transplants to remove tumors in his abdomen and bone marrow.

Today, sixth-grader Brent is healthy.

But Team Brent continues its fundraising activities in support of the national St. Baldrick's project.

Hundreds turned out for the team's latest event -- shedding their locks with lots of love -- for a good cause.
