The Westport Center for Senior Activities, 21 Imperial Ave., has announced the following upcoming events:
Tuesday, Sept. 3: The presentation "Simply Organize It" is planned from 1 to 2 p.m. Professional organizer Amy van Arsdale will discuss techniques for downsizing households and reducing clutter, including clearing out objects collected in attics and basements.
Wednesday, Sept. 4: Photographer Bernard Perry will present "Iceland, India, Cuba, Hawaii, China -- A Photographers Remarkable Odyssey" from 1 to 2 p.m. The presentation includes images from of waterfalls of Iceland, teeming streets and markets of Mumbai, rites of Hindu rites in Delhi, plus scenes from Cuba, Kauai and volcanos, and images of Beijing and interior China.
Thursday, Sept. 5: The film "Safe Haven" will be shown in the media room at 5:30 p.m., preceded at 5 p.m. by a light supper of sandwich wraps, chips and beverages. The 2013 film stars Julianne Hough as a mysterious young woman who forms a bond with a widower, who forces her to confront a dark secret. Cost is $6.
Monday, Sept. 9: Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. for Westport residents for programs to be offered from October through December. Registration for non-residents begins Monday, Sept. 16. Program schedules are available at the center, town Department of Human Services in town hall, and online at www.westportct.gov/seniorcenter . Registrations after Sept. 30 will carry a $10 late fee.
