The following activities are planned at the Westport Center for Senior Activities the week of March 18:
Monday: An AARP safe-driver course will be offered from noon to 4 p.m. Successful completion may qualify some motorists for discounts on their auto insurance premiums. The cost is $12 for AARP members, $14 for nonmembers. Checks payable to AARP are required.
Wednesday: Trained AARP tax counselors will be available to help middle-income seniors with their federal and state returns. Appointments are available between 9 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. Participants must bring all income, expense and deduction-related documents, plus the previous year's return. Thursday: Holistic-health expert Jeanne Licurse will conduct a cooking class and meal. The recipe will be butternut squash lasagna with garlic and fresh sage, arugula salad with balsamic vinaigrette and plum kanten. The class is 3 to 5 p.m. in the center's kitchen, and the cost is $6.
March 23: Lunch and a musical program are planned from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. The menu includes grilled chicken cutlet with roasted red peppers and spinach served over fettuccine and topped with feta cheese, salad, dessert and beverage. The cost is $7. Following lunch, John Paollilo will present a music program of oldies, classic rock, Motown, country, jazz and other genres.
