The Westport Center for Senior Activities at 21 Imperial Ave. has announced the following activities:
Sunday, Jan. 19: Steve D'Agostino will perform songs from "The Great American Songbook" at 2 p.m. Doors open at 1, and light refreshments will be served before the show. D'Agostino will perform music of Cole Porter, Ira Gershwin, Johnny Mercer, Sammy Cahn and other artists, the center said. The event is co-sponsored by the Friends of the Westport Center for Senior Activities.
Tuesday, Jan. 21: A program on controlling pain caused by osteoarthritis is planned from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Occupational therapist Helen Goldenberg will make an educational presentation about arthritis pain and strategies to relieve it, including upper- and lower-body exercises recommended by the Arthritis Foundation. The center advised participants to wear comfortable clothes and sturdy shoes.
Wednesday, Jan. 22: Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County will present a discussion on sexuality in later years from 1 to 2 p.m. The program, "Intimacy and Aging," will explore myths and realities of intimacy in senior years.
Thursday, Jan. 23: An overview of the iPad, a lightweight, touch-screen mobile device, will be offered from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Terri Peikara, whom the center said is an expert on Apple products, will demonstrate how the iPad can be used to browse the Internet, check email, watch movies and read books and periodicals. Participants will have opportunities to ask questions.
