The Westport Center for Senior Activities, 21 Imperial Ave., has announced the following activities:
Saturday, Sept. 14: The center's final barbecue of the season is from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. The menu includes hamburgers, hot dogs, ribs, grilled chicken, potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans and watermelon. After lunch, musicians Chris Coogan and Jim Clark will perform a mix of standards and will take requests. Cost is $8.
Monday, Sept. 16: Registration for non-Westport residents begins at 8:30 a.m. for classes that will be conducted from October through December. Registration for residents began Sept. 9. A list of classes is available at the center. The calendar of events is now available at the center; at the Department of Human Services in Town Hall, 110 Myrtle Ave.; and online at www.westportct.gov/seniorcenter. All registrations received after Sept. 30 are subject to a $10 late fee.
Monday, Sept. 16: Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County will offer a workshop on "Mindfulness and Coping with Change" from 10 to 11 a.m. Change can be a source of stress, and some may become anxious, judgmental, depressed and angry. The workshop will offer techniques for being more relaxed.
Tuesday, Sept. 17: Wellness consultant Adam Propper will deliver the presentation "Boost Your Immunity" from 1 to 2 p.m. He is a board-certified chiropractor and an expert on anti-aging and pain management.
