Westport Center for Senior Activities said it has updated its computer lab with new, Hewlett Packard PCs and has announced a full slate of classes for July.
The new computers have larger screens than the center's previous ones and have updated software, the center said.
All classes require pre-registration and pre-payment. The center said the July classes are suitable for users of PCs and Macs, and the center has wireless Internet service.
The July class schedule includes:
Internet II -- Searching and Finding Information: The course covers using Google and other search engines to find material, plus the use of Wikipedia, Refdesk, government, professional and general reference sites. The course will meet from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday, July 8, and Monday, July 15. Singer will be the instructor, and the cost is $25.
Windows 8 Laptop: The course covers new features of Micrsoft's Window 8 software and is geared for laptop users. Attendees should bring their full charged laptops to the class, and the instructor will have one for demonstrations. The class will meet Tuesday, July 9 from 2 to 4 p.m. Weaver is the instructor and, the cost is $25.
YouTube for Business and for Pleasure: The course covers researching and performing tasks on YouTube, including how businesses can post videos with their Gmail accounts. The class will meet Thursday, July 11, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Weaver is the instructor and the cost is $25.
Brain Aerobics: The course ill cover using computers to stimulate brain cells. The class will meet Thursday, July 18, from 3 to 5 p.m. Weaver is the instructor, and the cost is $25.
Google and Beyond!: The course overs using Google to access maps, news and local information. Other search engines will bee discussed Basic computer and Internet skills are required.
The class will meet Thursday, July 25, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Weaver is the instructor and the cost is $25.
