The Westport-Weston Chamber of Commerce is looking for families, school groups, clubs and individuals to make downtown Westport spooky for the Halloween season.
The chamber's annual Halloween storefront-window painting contest is scheduled on Sunday, Oct. 20 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. A panel of judges will award prizes in three age groups for the spookiest, family-friendly scenes.
Each groups or individual that registers will be assigned a specific window at a specific shop, the chamber said in a news release. Window decorators must supply their own tempera paints (not acrylics), brushes, paper towels and drop cloths, plus a ladder if needed.
Participants also must clean up after finishing their illustrations.
Entry fees are $15 for individuals, and $25 for groups. The chamber said 20 percent of proceeds would be donated to Staples Tuition Grants, the local college-scholarship foundation.
Entry forms are available online at: www.westportwestonchamber.com .
Judging by a panel of town officials and local artists will begin at 4 p.m., and prizes will be awarded in three categories: Grades 3-5, Grades 6-8 and Grades 9-12.
