A full-size dump truck struck the railroad bridge over Saugatuck Avenue early Friday afternoon, shutting down traffic in the area for nearly three hours.
The truck got wedged about 1 p.m. underneath the underpass, just south of the Exit 17 ramp on the northbound side of Interstate 95.
It was freed by emergency crews from beneath the bridge about 3:45 p.m., police said. The road was reopened to traffic in both directions.
The accident remains under investigation.
