Hurricane Sandy, besides packing the potential to cause significant damage early next week, is also a grinch.
Because the fierce storm poses a threat to public safety through at least Tuesday, the annual Children's Halloween Parade planned Monday, has been cancelled. Also, according to the town Parks and Recreation Department, the event will not take place in the previously announced alternate location of Town Hall.
This marks the second year in a row that local Halloween festivities have been disrupted by bad weather.
Last year, a snowy nor'easter pushed back observances of the holiday several days.
