A fundraising walk at Sherwood Island State Park on Sunday, May 12, raised $90,000 for Star Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides services for people with developmental disabilities.

Star said about 700 people participated in its eighth annual Walk, Roll and Stroll, which featured an opening-ceremonies performance by Westport Boy Scout Troop 36 and an appearance by the reigning Miss Connecticut, Erin Brady.

Participants chose between 1-mile and 3.1-mile routes along park paths, the organization said.

Star Inc. services are available to developmentally disabled people of all ages in mid-Fairfield County and their families.
